Description:It’s colorless transparent crystal with relative density 2.130, melting point 318.4 °C and boiling point 13.9°C. The products in market have solid and liquid ones: Pure liquid one is colorless transparent liquid. Pure solid caustic soda, massive, flake or granular, is white with qualitative fragile and strong moisture absorption. Freely soluble in water, it releases heat when dissolves; the solution with soapy feeling shows alkaline. It’s soluble in ethanol and glycerin, but insoluble in aether and acetone. With strong corrosiveness, it corrodes fibers, skin, glass, ceramic, etc. Applications: Mainly used in production of paper cellulose pulp, soap, synthetic detergents, synthetic fatty acids and refining of animals and plants grease. It’s used as cotton cloth desizing agent, scouring agent and mercerizing agent in textile and dyeing industry; in the production of borax, sodium oxide, formic acid, oxalic acid, phenol etc in chemical industry. It’s used in refined petroleum products of oil industry and drilling mud in oil fields.
